Minutes of the AGM of EKRS held at Herne Mill, Herne

Meeting opened at 20.00

No apologies were received

Chairman’s report

The minutes of last year were discussed and agreed.

Proposed by M3TTA, Seconded by G8URC, carried unanimously.

George G3NIR confirmed his retirement after 5 years and thanked everyone for their support.

He confirmed that last years meetings were well attended and that subscriptions were not to be raised for this year.

Secretary’s report

Paul G3VJF thanked George G3NIR and stated that he had “held the club together” This sentiment was shared by all other members.

Paul G3VJF also announced his retirement after 20 or so years and that position would be taken up by Paul 2E0BRJ.

Paul G3VJF confirmed how good last years calendar had been and listed the subject of the meetings.

Treasurer’s report

John M1DHI agreed to continue as Treasurer for another year.

John M1DHI ran through the Income and expenditure account and reported that there was very little change in the financial situation of the club in comparison to recent years.

He reported a £50.06 excess of expenditure over income.

Erwin G4LQI raised the issue that at last years meeting the Club agreed to donate £100.00 to RAIBC which had not been done. George G3NIR confirmed that this was an “oversight” and that the John MIDHI would correct the error.

Erwin stood down as the Club’s Auditor.

Accounts proposed as being correct.

Election of Committee members

Both Paul G3VJF and George G3NIR were to remain as committee members which was proposed by G3NIR and G7RBB and seconded by M3TTA respectively.

Carried unanimously.

 

Coffee break

A break for coffee was taken at 20.22 during which Bill G8NXQ and Karl M1DFM judged the construction contest. There were 3 entries.

Construction Contest

Results of the construction contest were

Simple winner Nigel M0GRB.

Complicated winner G6PKS.


Bill G8NXQ said the quality was” extremely good” and George G3NIR congratulated the winners.

 

Christmas Dinner

It was agreed that the Christmas Dinner will be held at the Rising Sun Public House on Wednesday 16 December and that Paul 2E0BRJ was to provisionally book the venue for about 25 people.


Any Other Business

It was announced that G0LAA sadly passed away on the 6th of September. Four club members attended the funeral and a donation of £25.00 was given to Herne Bay Blind Club.

2E0BRJ announced that the Website was now to be looked after by Karl M1DFM.

Eileen M3TTA expressed concern that Mills On Air did not attract sufficient support from members and George G3NIR reinforced this by saying that “members must make more effort to keep these things going.”

Finally George G3NIR confirmed that he would continue to run the NET and Erwin G4LQI thanked George for his running of the Net.

The meeting closed at 21.09.
