Chairman’s report

We have had a busy calendar over the year with many and varied events. Practical evenings involving kit building have proved popular as have the usual visitors and presentations. Bailey Bridges, photo evenings and radio related events have provided a varied and interesting mix. The club sale was also a successful event. We tried to arrange a few visits for members. Bletchley Park – poor take up last year. Maybe we can get a mini-bus and develop this further in early 2012? We visited the sound mirrors at Denge, which also provided a presentation of photo’s on the event at a club evening. We have tried to run ‘on demand Foundation and intermediate courses’ this is of course ongoing. Ben is about to undertake his M6 foundation exam at Dover, and Eileen and Paul hope to complete their Intermediate early next year. Materials prepared for the foundation and intermediate course are on my website:  www.karl-davies.talktalk.net

The RSGB are getting our calendar of events. These are being advertised on the RSGB Website and RADCOM. Herne Mill have said they may have to increase their charges because CCC are going to charge for electricity/lighting etc., this means a proposal that we increase subscriptions from £5 to £10 per year at this AGM.

Martins, and Myself visited Terry Stanford (Wealden Forrest Park Ltd) about the possibility of a permanent station setup, and somewhere to hold our meetings. Unfortunately the costs were prohibitive and club members decided against the move in the end. We have not yet arranged a trip to Dover Coastguard station, maybe this could be pursued this year if members so wish? Maybe also organise a visit to RE Chatham (suggested by Ted and Doris)? Another suggestion has been to have a Meal with Ted and Doris in Faversham.

Personal – I am now working back at Canterbury College once again.

We had 15 Club attendances this year with an Average 12 member’s per evening, 22 at the club sale and 20 at intermediate practical evenings.

Two new members joined us this year.  We do have another busy calendar of varied events planned for the coming year. Please see the Calendar on the club website for details.

Secretary’s report

The secretary thanked all the officers and committee for their work this year. Perhaps we could run an individual build or group build project and sell at the club sale to help funds.

Mills on the Air needs more support. It will run only one day this year. If no support for the event is given we may cancel the event for the following years.

Eileen and Karl work and it is therefore more beneficial to hold committee meetings at a club night at the mill, possibly before a natter night. In this way all members can attend and advise the committee of their views.

We have had a very active year with 1’s and 2’s doing courses at Popes Lane. Karl and I are happy to do this as we feel we are putting a little back into the hobby. Exams at present are done elsewhere, as they come up at various clubs and venues.

Treasurer’s report

An audited set of Accounts was presented at the meeting by the treasurer. Total funds currently stand at £1281.54. We are presently solvent, and do not need to increase subscriptions this year.

Audited accounts are available on request for members.

Votes of thanks were expressed for Dee Nicholls for auditing the accounts.
